"He was from Surah. Raspetushye: he dressed up like a man, but he would wear a headscarf. And sang like a woman. Wandered, traveled..."

Arkhangelsk region, Pinezhsky district, Verkola, Letopala village.
Crossing one verge/line (gender), the raspetukh automatically crossed the metaphysical border; as a person who did not fit into social roles, he/she was associated with magical qualities.
Being resurrected in today's everyday life, the demand for local identity requires a search for one's own history, even if it was stigmatized at the time of creation. Queer culture appropriates the word "queer" that used to be an insult and turns it into a part of identity, but modernity does not allow Pomor people to experience the break of hierarchical frameworks, so in this project we take the insult "petukh" (a rooster) from the language of colonizers, from which the name of the phenomenon "raspetushye" originates.
By transforming this phenomenon, resurrecting history and working on speculation, we turn our focus to family stories, the landscape, architecture and the unique experience of us as LGBTQ+ representatives within the local community, with cyber-plant aesthetics breathing through the photos. In this project, it is important for us to perform traditionally female Pomor images, such as "ikotnitza", "goloshelnitza", etc. and to make an attempt to create a new language synthesizing the experience of the colony in the unstable history of people on our land.
topic: "slow culture" and the mentality of "slow people" of the north, as well as the "superfluous man", referring to the tradition of the russian literature.

the temperature at which the zine was created: -27 degrees

the main concept of the choreography and the photo: confrontation with frost outside, a conflict of speeds, degrees, statics and dynamics, naked and protected. the “superfluous man” in the zine is the one who moves at the speed of light inside his head, not the body, compared with other people who move slowly in the head, but very quickly in the body.

Customized fashion collection "Smirenie"

We were inspired by the history of particular things and pieces of clothes. We were interested in lost, forgotten and abandoned things. The sites of our inspiration were the abandoned houses, landfills, "parental cabinets" and the street. We tried to rethink the things found in these places and give them a new life based on the "experience" of these things.

wild blood & teenage dream
a performance in the genre of physical theater based on Mayakovsky's poetry.
"НАТЕ!"
what do abuser, teapot, insane asylum, fatalist, tango, torn mattress and matches have in common?
it would seem a love scandal, but this story is that all people are assholes.
crazy dancer, hysterical traitor and infantile fool; family showdowns next to a psychiatric hospital, serenades about love and own greatness. this story is absurdly ordinary, hyperbolized, everyday, technically simple, sentencing and dancing, eating into the brain and being watched by you every day, disgusting to disgrace, but it should be, a little hopeless, a little tragedy, a little comedy, a ab-so-lut-ly unintelligible.

"russian hiroshima"
photo-performance, 2019

— ashes from the sky fall into the eye from which everything becomes rainbow. people pray and fool around, in search of the meanings of the remaining short time period. pay attention to the details of the world in which you live! iodine and milk will not save you from a nuclear explosion in your head when you see all the beauty of the world and the ability to come up with so many games. turning over reality, they rummage around in the suitcases and attics of their skull boxes, looking for memories from the past, dreams and "that which did not succeed".

the museum of simple people

the principles on which the museum is build:
— eco-friendliness and recycling, creation of art objects without any additional resources.
— humanism and anthropology: the main concept of the museum is within realization of every human life’s value. not just lives of subjectively unique people, but every life is worthy of a museum.
— site-specific art: the museum’s works are always conceptually interacting with space of an exposition, bonding a personal story with stories of houses, churches, settlements, cities.

We create expositions dedicated to real and fictional people basing on information and artifacts found in places of a research and present these in a form of museum exhibitions accompanied by excursions and mediations.
